Where did you grow up, and where do you live now? Tell us something a lot of people don’t know about your hometown.
I grew up Fall River, MA, a coastal city not far from Cape Cod. In fact, we used to vacation on the Cape most summers, boating, fishing, digging for clams, which was always fun. But the city itself is quite historic and has several unique facts, one in particular that has always fascinated me—the home of Lizzie Borden. Not many young people probably know about Lizzie Borden, but she was suspected of killing her father and stepmother back in 1892 with an ax. Another fact, this one fun, if you follow celebrity chefs, Fall River is home to Emeril Lagasse. I haven’t been back to that neck of the woods in quite sometime. I now call home in Sacramento, CA. I love the Mediterranean weather and the option to visit the ocean or the mountains, which are only a short drive away.
What is your favorite part about writing Sweet Romance/ Cozy Mysteries?
A sweet romance always gives me that warm and gooey feeling, but one of my favorite parts about writing sweet romance is the unspoken romantic tension between the characters.
Who or what inspired you to become an author?
As a kid I read a lot and in all different genres. I would say reading gave me the bug. I started and stopped several manuscripts until six years ago when an author friend of mine motivated me to get serious about writing.
If you weren’t an author, what would you be doing?
I’ve had several types of jobs in my career from military jobs, teaching high school, and then settled into a sales/management position in Corporate America until I quit my full-time job two years ago, and now I’m writing full-time.
Do you have any pets? Please tell us about them!
I love dogs. If I could have a farm full of dogs I would. But I don’t own a farm. So I have a Shih-Tzu named, Lucy. She’s twelve-years-old, and at times I think she’s a human or she thinks she is anyway.
Have you found your own real life happily ever after?
I believe that everyone has a soul mate in this world, and I found mine. After twenty years of marriage, we’re still going strong.
What is one book that impacted or changed your life that you think everybody should read? Tell us about it.
Many years ago I was going through a tough time in my life. Anywhere I turned I was met with a challenge after challenge. Then a friend recommended The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield. When I started reading the book, I thought the author wrote it for me. As I read each chapter and each prophecy, I felt like I was on the journey the author details in the book. By the time I finished reading it, I felt more alive than I’d ever had. I went on to make several life-changing decisions with confidence that put me on the right path.
