Where did you grow up, and where do you live now? Tell us something a lot of people don’t know about your home town.

I grew up in a small town in East Tennessee, and I still live here today! It’s not Mayberry, but it’s definitely a small southern town in the heart of Appalachia. One of the most interesting things about my town is that, during the Civil War, our county seceded from the Confederacy and joined the Union. History buffs love that! We’re about an hour from the nearest big city, but we have high-speed internet, so yay!

What is your favorite part about writing Sweet Romance/ Cozy Mysteries?

My favorite thing about writing Sweet Romance is that readers love my stories enough to share them with their daughters, mothers, and grandmothers. That makes me proud.

Who or what inspired you to become an author?

I’ve always been a writer. I used to write songs and poems in class (when I should’ve been listening to the teacher!). Still, I didn’t plan on writing books. Then, I fell in love with writing fan fiction. One of my readers happened to be an editor or a small publishing house. She encouraged me to submit something to them. I did, and they signed me. I published two books with them before becoming an indie author.

If you weren’t an author, what would you be doing?

I’m a school librarian, so that’s what I do when I’m not an author! 😊

Do you have any pets? Please tell us about them!

Not anymore. Our sweet cat, Gus, passed away two years ago. Gus was definitely my husband’s cat. Gus tolerated me. We miss him, but we aren’t ready for another fur baby quite yet.

Have you found your own real life happily ever after?

I have. My husband and I met in 1997. We’ve been married since December 2002. He is a radio DJ and absolutely my best friend. We’re not perfect, but I truly believe we’re perfect for each other. Total homebodies, sports nuts, and perfectly content in our little house in the country.

What is one book that impacted or changed your life that you think everybody should read? Tell us about it.

The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks (I read it before it was a movie). I’d stopped reading for a long time, mostly because I was in college and just didn’t have time. This book made me fall in love with reading again and shaped my love for small town romances that make you laugh, cry, and happy sigh. However, I understand his books aren’t for everyone because he is the King of Heartbreak, so proceed with caution! Lol
