An Interview with Raine English
Where did you grow up, and where do you live now?
Tell us something a lot of people don’t know about your home town. I grew up in a quaint New England town where I still reside. Many people don’t know it’s home to one of the most prestigious prep schools in the world with alumni that include a former US president, a Pulitzer-winning playwright, and a prince.
What is your favorite part of writing Sweet Romance/ Cozy Mysteries?
The romance! You have to really focus on it when writing sweet. You can’t throw in a love scene to build the emotion between the hero and heroine. You have to find other ways of doing that. It can be a challenge, but it’s also a good way to keep your writing fresh.
Who or what inspired you to become an author?
English was my favorite subject in school, and I adored romance novels, so it wasn’t much of a stretch to assume that one day I would try my hand at writing them.
If you weren’t an author, what would you be doing?
I also do cover design, so if I weren’t an author, I would expand my graphic design business and work at it full-time.
Do you have any pets? Please tell us about them!
I have two French bulldogs, Dolly and Bailey. They’re such characters. They constantly make me laugh. Bailey is a twelve-year-old male who tries really hard to keep up with super active four-year-old Dolly, and he does a really good job. However, by about 5:00 pm, he’s had enough and is ready to collapse. I couldn’t imagine life without dogs. I love them so much!
Have you found your own real life happily ever after?
Unfortunately, not yet, but writing romance novels helps to keep me ever hopeful.
What is one book that impacted or changed your life that you think everybody should read? Tell us about it.
The Power of Intention by Dr. Wayne Dyer. It will change how you look at life.
